The IMPACT! Safe Schools Student Leadership Conference is a
one-day conference that encourages meaningful, youth-focused dialogue between students, school staff, and law enforcement regarding safety issues and school community building. Through interactive workshops, activities, and discussions led by our partners, youth spend the day exploring topics relevant to the conference theme and brainstorming ways to take what they’ve learned back to their school communities.
Youth can voice their concerns that impact their schools and advocate for solutions to empower and improve their school’s safety and well-being.
IMPACT! Safe Schools Conferences themes in the past few years have been centered on:
- Mental Health Awareness and Suicide Prevention
- Let’s Talk Conflict!: Building Bridges Beyond Discrimination & Bias
- Healthy Minds & Healthy Communities: Stress, Anxiety and Social Pressures
The conference is free, lunch will be provided, and youth may attend and earn service-learning hours! The conference is offered to high school youth during the fall and middle school youth during the spring.
The IMPACT! Safe Schools Leadership Conference for high schools is scheduled for Thursday, November 9, 10 AM – 3 PM, at El Centro De La Raza’s Centilia Cultural Center. Please get in touch with your school’s student activity coordinator or Aaliyah@sngi.org to learn more about IMPACT! and sign up.
