What We Do

We work throughout Seattle in partnership with resident groups, neighborhood associations, and individuals who want to make their community safer. Our focus is on safety for all, and we use a variety of approaches to support safety in the communities we work in. Keep up with our activities by following us on our social media, or subscribe to our newsletter!

Educate

Our goal is to improve community safety, belonging, and engagement through partnerships, events, outreach, and safety training.

Organize

Our staff support community projects, small groups, and agencies to host events fostering safety and resilience.

Collaborate

Our group promotes public safety through partnerships and collaborative problem-solving with community members.

Place-Based Projects

We bring our skills to places ranging from neighborhoods to parks, to business nodes. Our place-based work can include project coordination involving many facets; cleanups, murals, block parties, business safety outreach, education campaigns, facilitated community conversations, service coordination. Our place-based work can also include a “deep dive” into the physical site using CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) to identify features and use patterns that may contribute to unwanted activities.

Workshops, Outreach, & Education

Sharing skills and information through our workshops is a way to help create safer communities. We host the Impact! Youth Conference, an annual day-long event for high school youth leaders, a Community CPTED Workshop to share safe place-making principles, and Safe Rental Property Workshops. We also offer a variety of short presentations for small groups focused on Personal Safety, ID Theft & Fraud, and others. We reach out to small businesses in our communities with Small Business Safety Visits. For more information about any of these events, please contact info@sngi.org

Immigrant & Refugee Community

SNG’s work with immigrants and refugees centers on bringing services and information to the many groups we work with, promoting conversation, and partnering with other organizations serving this diverse community. We focus on bringing people together, teaching advocacy skills, providing basic information around safety, and educating about how & where to reach out for help. Our focus on supporting immigrant & refugee owned small businesses is a cornerstone to serving this community. For more information contact info@sngi.org

East African Senior Meal Program We've seen a remarkable increase in activities for female seniors this year, marking a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to support East African seniors, refugees, and immigrants. By focusing on more engaging activities, we've created a vibrant and welcoming environment at Yesler and Northgate Community Centers, as well as Rainier Beach Urban Farm and Wetlands. In addition to these activities, we've expanded our support efforts for food relief. This includes distributing gift cards for groceries and providing accessible transportation to ensure that seniors can easily attend our programs and access essential resources. These initiatives reflect our commitment to building a safer and more supportive community, empowering individuals to thrive within their neighborhoods.
